NICA is a nationwide company that offers services to both independent contractor couriers and courier companies. They offer many benefits to you including:

Insurance:

1. You receive occupational accident insurance covering medical expenses up to $400,000 ($250 deductible) per incident for injuries sustained while under Dispatch.
2. You can collect disability income of up to $500 per week (based on 70% of your average gross commissions) if you are out of work for seven or more consecutive days due to an on-the-job accident.
3. Death and dismemberment benefit up to $150,000 while under Dispatch
4. You will receive a $5,000 policy ($250 deductible) for medical expenses for an injury sustained on the job. There is also a $10,000 death and dismemberment policy for an off-the-job accident.

Optional services:

1. Discounted Medical Insurance
2. Discounted Vehicle Insurance
3. NICA can prepare your individual or joint tax return at no cost
4. NICA can escrow money for you to satisfy your estimated federal quarterly tax filings. These funds will be deducted from your commissions and then forwarded to the IRS at the end of each quarter.

Examples:

1. A courier was loading a few boxes from a company in Central Park.  He was coming down some stairs when he lost his footing and fell down the stairs -- all of the boxes and hand truck fell on top of him. He broke his shoulder in two places.  He was out of work for almost two months and had thousands of dollars in medical bills.
2. A courier was making a delivery when he heard his knee “pop”.  He was fortunate to avoid surgery but had a few thousand dollars in medical bills and was out of work for seven weeks.
• With each of these instances, the courier had their medical bills paid (except a $250 deductible) AND received between $400 and $500 per week for lost wages.
